Most of these images were taken in the red circled area near the I72 bridge over the Illinois river, on the West bank. The best access is from roads leading North off Hwy 106.

Under the Hwy 106 bridge on the East bank. Behind me the road peters out in a muddy slog.

Hwy 106 bridge, facing East.
Head North from this corner in Detroit and proceed for 2.1 miles.
Turn right onto this farm road. The sign says 1700N/3619E.
Straight section, but the road has lots of sharp turns....good for practicing power slides. Gotta up the fun factor somehow!
At the I72 bridges, looking West, which is where you'd be coming from. The East bound bridge is down the road to the left.
Looking the other direction towards the West bound bridge. Taking the first left down this road gets you onto the other pictured roads.

You can also access the area from a smaller paved road off 106, East of Detroit, which is what I did on this trip. Turn right off of that road and you're on this one, heading North.
Turn right again and, ummm.....where are we anyway? I don't use a map or GPS....I just explore. After all, there's plenty of gas in that tank. The descent begins at the treeline.
Entering the trees.
A water crossing. Ooooohhh.....Adventure!
Scene along the way.

Final descent to the river.
I drove 130 miles on the freeway to get here, in comfort. That's why the GS is such a great bike.
