Thompson Canyon - 2004

Thompson Canyon Trail is the Eastern way out of Fisher Valley.  It circles around to join Polar Mesa Trail, which then joins with the Castleton Gateway Road.  Its mostly an easy ride with a few rocky sections.

The Thompson Canyon Trail (red dots).  I did it in the direction indicated by the arrow.	This sign marks the start in Fisher Valley.	A Westward look, back towards Onion Creek Road.	The first part of the trail climbs along the slope of "the rock", then descends on this short switchback.

View of the now-familiar sloping rocks in Fisher Valley, where the Onion Creek, Rose Garden Hill, and Thompson Canyon roads meet; this time looking West from Hideout Canyon overlook.	This is typical of much of the latter part of the trail.
Consulting the details.  The last part of the route uses the Polar Mesa Trail, but I took a wrong turn.  The CycoActive "BarPack" accomodates large maps in a fold-out section.
